The IHF World Men's Handball Championship 2019 - will be the 26th event hosted by the International Handball Federation and will be held in Denmark from 10 to 20 January and in Germany from 21 to 27 January 2019. This is going to be a first IHF World Men's Handball Championship that will include more than one host member.

At this New Years Concert - the DR Big Band and Curtis Stigers will present musical highlights from a never ending Las Vegas era by duplicating the swinging and jazzy tunes that was performed at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas between legendary Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra. Visitors in Copenhagen will in March experience youngsters of all ages dressed up in colourful costumes of their favourite idols and attend the “Fastelavn” feast by competing to smash the wooden barrel with a lot of “goodies" inside. Ghost the Musical will be presented and played at Tivoli’s Concert Hall for the first time ever in Denmark. The Ghost the Musical is based on the hit and Oscar Winning romantic fantasy film from 1990 of the same name.

16/04 - The Queen's Birthday - Amalienborg
Queen Margrethe II - will be celebrated on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace on her 79 year birthday by the Danes and Copenhageners at noon 12.00 - where people by tradition gather at the square of Amalienborg Palace and wave the Danish flag for the Queen and her family. The Royal Guard will be dressed in red gala uniforms and will play many birthday songs for the Queen. Visitors - who are in Copenhagen´- should experience this popular and traditional event in royal surroundings and join in to celebrate the very popular Danish Monarch. The Open Air Museum includes more than 100 buildings - where you can discover how farmers and smallholders lived and worked in different regions of Denmark in the 1700s - 1800s and 1900s. 17/05 - THE GREAT PRAYER DAY - Public Danish Holy Day
The Great Prayer Day - “Store Bededag” and “Varme hveder”. This Christian holy day has a great tradition - as the Danes since 1686 - have eaten a special type of wheaten buns called "hvedeknopper" - or more popular named “varme hveder”. In olden days - and way back in history - all bakeries was closed on this holy day - and people was compelled to buy these “hvederknopper” the evening before "The Great Prayer Day" and had to warm and eat them on the following holy holiday as "varmer hveder". Fresh wheaten buns "varmer hveder" has for generations been a great Danish tradition to eat on the evening and day of “Store Bededag”. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings.

The 2019 marathon race starts and finishes by the waterfront beside the Royal Library "The Black Diamond". The traffic-free course can roughly be split into 3 laps each consisting of approximately 14 kilometres. So come and Join this Years marathon with perfect service from start to finish.

Danish Beer enthusiast arrange every year their annual Copenhagen Beer Festival - where all players from the Danish brewery industry and minor micro breweries - as well as foreign beer breweries - meet to present their beers - and where the audience can taste as mush as they like of the different beer types and sorts. The beer festival 2019 - is number 25 in a row - and will be held at the LOKOMOTIVVÆRKSTEDET - where more than 800 beer types and sorts from over 80 local and foreign beer producers can be tasted and enjoyed at the Beer Festival.

Once again the Copenhagen Lindy Exchange will make Copenhagen buzz with great music, dancing and laughter. 30/05 - ASCENSION DAY - Public Danish Holy Day
The Feast of the Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar - and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into heaven. Ascension Day “Kristi Himmelfartsdag” is traditionally celebrated on a Thursday - 40 day after Easter. The Ascension of Christ is commemorated in Denmark - is a national flag - holy and public holiday. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings.


31/05 - 02/06 - ROSKILDE AGRICULTURAL & CATTLE SHOW 2019 - Roskilde
The 49th yearly and traditional Agricultural Show 2019 at Roskilde - where farmers and other professionals from the agricultural sector meet and greet with country residents and city folks at this venue - and where farmers exhibit their most magnificent prime specimens - 2000 different livestocks and agricultural machinery plus accessories for leisure - outdoor living and professional use. There will be special exhibitions on hunting - forestry - children's animal show and foodstuff. Last year almost 90,000 spectators visited the Agricultural Show venue at Roskilde. There will also be plentiful of tastings - competitions & demonstrations.

01/06 - 31/08 - HARBOUR BATHING 2019 - Copenhagen Harbours
Since June 2002 the Copenhageners no longer need to visit the beaches in the summer season outside of the city to have a fresh swim in crystal clean blue water - as the bathing water around the harbour area has reached a quality equal to the bathing water at the many blue flag beaches on the coastline of Copenhagen. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.

05/06 - CONSTITUTION DAY (Grundlovsdag) - 5 June - Denmark
June 5th is the Danes constitutional day - and the anniversary of signing the first Danish constitution in 1849 - which established Denmark as a constitutional monarchy and since one of the world’s most democratic countries. Constitution Day is a public and national holiday and most shops in Denmark are closed. The Danes just love celebrating their "Grundlovsdag" - that introduced democracy in Denmark - which is connected with many political speeches plus other types of public events and leisure activities all over Denmark. The day is also Father's Day in Denmark. This year 2019 - a national and general election will be held all over the kingdom of Denmark. (Flag Day and Public holiday).


06/06 - ELTON JOHN - Royal Arena
Sir Elton John will “Follow The Yellow Brick Road” to Royal Arena - and one of the greatest artists and the man behind the timeless and epic songs "Your Song" - "Tiny Dancer" - "Rocket Man" and "Candle In The Wind" Sir Elton John - will give an unforgettable concert in Copenhagen for all of his Danish fans.

Denmark vs. Ireland - Qualifying Football match for EUROPEAN Championships 2020 in 12 different cities in Europe.

The Whitsun Carnival of Copenhagen (Pinsekarneval)is a major event of the year - with a 3-day arrangement in and around Copenhagen City from June 7 to 9 - 2019. There will be a lot of fun - music - workshops and dancing performances in colourful costumes and carnival dresses. During the carnival period - there will be many parades with numerous samba bands that will accompany and entertain the dancers and audience during the Carnival Event in Copenhagen.


09/06 - FREE OPEN AIR - ROYAL DANISH BALLET - Ofelia Plads
Open air Ballet with FREE ENTRY at Ofelia Plads and Beach in the center of Copenhagen. Once more the Royal Danish Ballet Company invites everyone to celebrate the opening of the new season 2019 - and be able to experience highlights from last season. Take a big picnic basket and some cold bottles of wine with you and enjoy this special performance near the waterfront of Copenhagen and sandy surroundings. This open air classic Event is a must for Ballet lovers - who will enjoy the best from both worlds - fresh air and superb classic Ballet performance. Come and join this festive Ballet arrangement in open air at Ofelia Plads. Duration - Approx. 3-hours inclusive intermission.

Denmark vs. Georgia - Qualifying Football match for EUROPEAN Championships 2020 in 12 different cities in Europe.


10/06 - ROYAL RUN COPENHAGEN - Crown Prince Frederik
After the successful ROYAL RUN arrangement last year in 2018 to celebrate Crown Prince Frederik’s 50 years birthday - the Crown Prince of Denmark has once again arranged for a new Royal Run event on June 10 - 2019 - where everyone can participate and join the Danish Crown Prince running for a one mile run in the streets of Copenhagen. The Royal Run will start and end at Amalienborg Palace.

14/06 - 15/06 - COPENHAGEN DANCE FESTIVAL 2019 – Pumpehuset
Copenhagen Dance Festival is a two day celebration of the movement of the body, that we humans call DANCING! A festival filled with workshops - dance shows - concerts - and a big dance competition. The location is an old - raw and beautiful factory hall with an outside beach by the harbour. Food trucks with food from all over the world, live art and chill out music in the sun. A festival filled with workshops - dance shows - concerts - and a big dance competition. We will a big dance party both Friday and Saturday evening.


15/06 - DANNEBROG - 800 years Celebration - Denmark
All over Denmark - the Danes will celebrate the 800 year anniversary of their beloved flag “Dannebrog” on June 15th - 2019 - which became the Danes national flag - when it fell down from the sky in Estonia in 1219 - according to the everlasting myth and treasured legend.

The famous German hard rock and metal band Rammstein formed in 1994 and better known as Neue Deutsche Härte will visit Copenhagen on their Europe Stadium Tour 2019 and give a concert at Parken Stadium for their many Danish Heavy Metal fans - and will present hits from the band’s latest album “No.7” during the concert.

The Dutch violinist André Rieu - who with his popularity fills halls - stadiums and concert halls worldwide - will guests Copenhagen in June 2019. Sankt Hans Aften (St. John’s Eve) was an official religious holiday in Denmark until 1770 - and has since the time of the Vikings been a Danish tradition of celebrating the Midsummer with bonfires and speeches all over the country in the evening of 23th June - 2019. Especially on the coastline of Denmark bonfires are lit to celebrate the midsummer month - and a great tradition is to sing “midsommervisen” – the Midsummer Hymn by Holger Drachmann – “Vi elsker vort land” - We love our Country.

The Classic boat race can celebrate its 73rd year anniversary with over 2000 sailing ships. Around Zealand Regatta 2019 - starts and ends at Elsinore port. Since June 2002 the Copenhageners no longer need to visit the beaches in the summer season outside of the city to have a fresh swim in crystal clean blue water - as the bathing water around the harbour area has reached a quality equal to the bathing water at the many blue flag beaches on the coastline of Copenhagen. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.

04/07 - REBILD FESTIVAL 2019 – Rebild Nationalpark - Jutland
Every year since July 4th 1912 - thousands of Danish-Americans and their descendants - together with other Danes have joined in the celebration of the American Independence Day on the beautiful heather-covered hills at Rebild National Park in Jutland - just 20 km south of Aalborg. The Rebild Festival is also an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants - and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between Denmark and USA. On this festival day - Stars and Stripes - and the Danish flag “Dannebrog” are flown side-by-side in natural picturesque surroundings - and as an honour to both countries. US-citizens - who are visiting Copenhagen can experience this festival in Jutland on July 4th. By train or car the trip will take about 4 hours and there is plenty of lodging facilities at Rebild and in Aalborg.
