There are many outdoor free skating rinks spread all over town including Frederiksberg Runddel Lindevangsparken - Toftegårds Plads - Pebling Sø - Havnegade - Blågårds Plads - Genforeningsplads and are open in the winter period. Visitors can hire skating gear and accessories at the skating rinks. Open from 08:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m..

At this New Year's Concert - the DR Big Band and Curtis Stigers will present musical highlights from a never ending Las Vegas era by duplicating the swinging and jazzy tunes that was performed at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas between legendary Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra. This will be a memorable concert for all lovers of “Old Blue Eyes” and the swinging Count and his Orchestra.


12/01 - LEONARD COHEN Tribute - Amager Bio
A Memorial Tribute Concert to Leonard Cohen - will be held at Amager Bio - with some of the best Danish performers and musicians - who will pay a great tribute to this legendary performer.


17/01 - NEW YEAR CONCERT – The Black Diamond

23/02 - FASTERLAVN - SHROVETIDE 2020 - Copenhagen
Visitors in Copenhagen will in February experience youngsters of all ages dressed up in colourful costumes of their favourite idols and attend the “Fastelavn” feast by competing to smash the wooden barrel with a lot of “goodies" inside. The Danish Tradition of Fastelavn is also called the “Nordic Halloween” - and can trace its origins to the Christian observance to mark the time before Easter and the resurrection of Christ. At the old town and fishing village of Dragør just 14 km from Copenhagen - "Fastelavn" is traditionally celebrated on horseback.

The International Worker’s Day is celebrated by hundred-thousand in Copenhagen and by millions all over the world. The first Worker’s Day demonstration was held in Fælledparken - Copenhagen May 1st in 1890 - to commemorate the victory of the 8-hour working day achieved by the Danish worker’s movement - and has since been a great event every year with many political meetings and other types of festivities and celebrations. The Great Prayer Day - “Store Bededag” and “Varme hveder”. This Christian holy day has a great tradition - as the Danes since 1686 - have eaten a special type of wheaten buns called "hvedeknopper" - or more popular named “varme hveder”. In olden days - and way back in history - all bakeries was closed on this holy day - and people was compelled to buy these “hvederknopper” the evening before "The Great Prayer Day" and had to warm and eat them on the following holy holiday as "varmer hveder". Fresh wheaten buns "varmer hveder" has for generations been a great Danish tradition to eat on the evening and day of “Store Bededag”. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings.

The Feast of the Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar - and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into heaven. Ascension Day “Kristi Himmelfartsdag” is traditionally celebrated on a Thursday - 40 day after Easter. The Whitsun Carnival of Copenhagen (Pinsekarneval)is a major event of the year - with a 2-day arrangement in and around Copenhagen City from May 30 to 31 - 2020. There will be a lot of fun - music - workshops and dancing performances in colourful costumes and carnival dresses. During the carnival period - there will be many parades with numerous samba bands that will accompany and entertain the dancers and audience during the Carnival Event in Copenhagen.

01/06 - ROYAL RUN COPENHAGEN - Crown Prince Frederik
After the successful ROYAL RUN arrangement in 2018 to celebrate Crown Prince Frederik’s 50 years birthday - the Crown Prince of Denmark has once again arranged for a new Royal Run event on June 1 - 2020 - where everyone can participate and join the Danish Crown Prince and his family running for a one mile run in the streets of Copenhagen. The Royal Run will start and end at Amalienborg Palace.

01/06 - 31/08 - HARBOUR BATHING 2020 - Copenhagen Harbours
Since June 2002 the Copenhageners no longer need to visit the beaches in the summer season outside of the city to have a fresh swim in crystal clean blue water - as the bathing water around the harbour area has reached a quality equal to the bathing water at the many blue flag beaches on the coastline of Copenhagen. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.

05/06 - CONSTITUTION DAY (Grundlovsdag) - 5 June - Denmark
June 5th is the Danes constitutional day - and the anniversary of signing the first Danish constitution in 1849 - which established Denmark as a constitutional monarchy and since one of the world’s most democratic countries. Constitution Day is a public and national holiday and most shops in Denmark are closed. The Danes just love celebrating their "Grundlovsdag" - that introduced democracy in Denmark - which is connected with many political speeches plus other types of public events and leisure activities all over Denmark. The day is also Father's Day in Denmark. This year 2019 - a national and general election will be held all over the kingdom of Denmark. (Flag Day and Public holiday).


05/06 - 07/06 - ROSKILDE AGRICULTURAL & CATTLE SHOW 2020 - Roskilde
The 50th yearly and traditional Agricultural Show 2020 at Roskilde - where farmers and other professionals from the agricultural sector meet and greet with country residents and city folks at this venue - and where farmers exhibit their most magnificent prime specimens - 2000 different livestocks and agricultural machinery plus accessories for leisure - outdoor living and professional use. There will be special exhibitions on hunting - forestry - children's animal show and foodstuff. Last year almost 90,000 spectators visited the Agricultural Show venue at Roskilde. There will also be plentiful of tastings - competitions & demonstrations.

15/06 - DANNEBROG Celebration - Valdemar’s Day - Denmark
All over Denmark - the Danes will celebrate Valdemar’s Day and their beloved flag “Dannebrog” on June 15th - 2020 - which became the Danes national flag - when it fell down from the sky in Estonia in 1219 - according to the everlasting myth and treasured legend. Last year the Danes celebrated the 800 year anniversary of “Dannebrog”.

23/06 - SANKT HANS EVE 2020 - Celebrate with the Danes
Sankt Hans Aften (St. John’s Eve) was an official religious holiday in Denmark until 1770 - and has since the time of the Vikings been a Danish tradition of celebrating the Midsummer with bonfires and speeches all over the country in the evening of 23th June - 2019. Especially on the coastline of Denmark bonfires are lit to celebrate the midsummer month - and a great tradition is to sing “midsommervisen” – the Midsummer Hymn by Holger Drachmann – “Vi elsker vort land” - We love our Country.


25/06 - 28/06 - AROUND ZEALAND REGATTA 2020 - Elsinore
The Classic boat race can celebrate its 74th year anniversary with over 2000 sailing ships. Around Zealand Regatta 2020 - starts and ends at Elsinore port. The sailing ships can be seen from Copenhagen's coast. The race is a national event and experience lasting 2-3 days and covers a course of 232 nautical miles around Zealand. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.

03/07 - 12/07 - JAZZ FESTIVAL 2019 - 42 years of Jazz in Copenhagen
The famous Copenhagen Jazz Festival is spread all around Copenhagen at various venues and "hot spots" - where Danish and international Jazz Bands will perform live in over 1400 concerts at over 100 indoor and outdoor arrangements and venues. This is the 42 edition of Jazz in Copenhagen. 04/07 - REBILD FESTIVAL 2020 – Rebild Nationalpark - Jutland
Every year since July 4th 1912 - thousands of Danish-Americans and their descendants - together with other Danes have joined in the celebration of the American Independence Day on the beautiful heather-covered hills at Rebild National Park in Jutland - just 20 km south of Aalborg. The Rebild Festival is also an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants - and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between Denmark and USA. On this festival day - Stars and Stripes - and the Danish flag “Dannebrog” are flown side-by-side in natural picturesque surroundings - and as an honour to both countries. US-citizens - who are visiting Copenhagen can experience this festival in Jutland on July 4th. By train or car the trip will take about 4 hours and there is plenty of lodging facilities at Rebild and in Aalborg. As a tribute to this USA – Danish Festival and as a countdown to the event - the added VIDEO performs – Strike Up the Band. Yeh - Let the drums roll out - Let the trumpet call - While the people shout "Strike up the band".

01/08 - 02/08 - COPENHAGEN HISTORIC GRAND PRIX 2020 - Fælledparken
The 15th historic race with classic cars and old timers in the streets of Copenhagen takes place on 1 - 2 August 2020. The event takes place in the surroundings of the largest park in Copenhagen "Fælledparken" - just next to Parken - and will be the greatest and biggest event yet in Copenhagen.

09/08 - DANISH DERBY 2020 - Copenhagen Racecourse Klampenborg
On August 9th. - Copenhagen Racecourse Klampenborg will host the most prestigious and iconic events in the Danish race house calendar and on the Danish racetracks – The Danish Weekend Derby 2020. This sports and social event is the grand horse racing festival of the year - which dates back to 1875 - and is the place to dress up in your very best to see the finest thoroughbred horses competing to win the Derby. Derby Day is a great day out and has always had a very special atmosphere – the gates open at 10 am and the first races starts at 12.30 pm. The racecourse at Klampenborg is situated just a few miles outside of Copenhagen and surrounded by forest and velvet-green pastures that topple into the valleys below Jægersborg Deer Park and offers absolute tranquillity - wildlife galore - and a truly spectacular setting.


16/08 - IRONMAN 2020 - Copenhagen
This summer the race of a lifetime - IRONMAN will take place in Copenhagen - where all the hard core participants can enjoy a spectator-filled course through historic Copenhagen. The swim is a 3.8 km one-lap course in the lagoon at Amager Beach Park. For the 180 km bike ride, competitors will wind through central Copenhagen. The four-lap run course stretches along the city’s harbor, lined with bright 17th and 18th-century row houses with more than 150,000 cheering fans.


21/08 - 30/08 - COPENHAGEN COOKING & FOOD FESTIVAL 2020 - Copenhagen
For more than a week - visitors and tourists can experience cooking - culinary and gourmet days in August 2020 - where the entire Danish capital will just be bubbling and sizzling with signature dishes - gastronomic delights - and creative food specialties - as eateries - restaurants - chefs and cultural institutions invite everybody in Copenhagen inside for a special food experiences and dining treat - to taste Danish gastronomy and Nordic cuisine at the Festival Venue situated at Israel Square in central Copenhagen. At the Cooking and Food Event - the organizers will turn up the festivities and present a varied program with everything from quirky dining practices to professional workshops - specialized show kitchens and assorted drinking stations. The only conditions the town planners require from the participants are - that everyone joining - has a hefty appetite before entering the Cooking and Food site. 29/08 - SWIMMING THE CANALS OF CHRISTIANSBORG 2020 - Copenhagen
Everyone can participate in this swimming competition round the 2 km canals of Christiansborg Castle 2020. The start point of the race will be at the “Black Diamond” at 9.00 a.m. and will nearly end here too. Test your condition and the fresh waters of Copenhagen harbour. The swimming distance is 1.900 meter – 1.9 km. Contact the Danish Swimming Association - who has arranged this contest since 2006 - if you are interested to participate in this yearly swimming event.


30/08 - DANISH TROTTING DERBY 2020 - Charlottenlund Racetrack
Visit the Charlottenlund Racetrack (Lunden) established in 1891 - by the Danish Trotting Club and participate in the yearly Danish Trotting Derby 2019 - near the beautiful woodlands of Charlottenlund.

29/09 - KATIE MELUA - Royal Opera
Katie Melua - British-Georgian singer, songwriter and musician became internationally famous, with the leading song and absolute ear rapper "Nine Million Bicycles in Beijing” from her second album that was the number-one spot on the UK Albums Chart in 2005.
