Borge - The funniest pianist on Earth
The Washington Post once called Victor Borge "the funniest
pianist on Earth". He was born in Copenhagen in 1909
and his birth name was Børge Rosenbaum.
He left Denmark at the start of World War II, to create a
new career in the United States and was best known here as
a comedian. In America he learned English, took the name
Victor Borge, and became a popular radio and TV star.
Since then he became a US citizen and one of the highest paid
entertainers in the US, and kept up a busy career into his
80s. Victor Borge died in 2000. |
