The
world famous Royal Danish Ballet
The most prominent name in Danish ballet is that of August
Bournonville (1805-1879). He was appointed Ballet Master
in 1830 and assigned to the Royal Danish Theatre
right up to 1877, where he created the famous
Bournonville ballet school. Bournonville introduced
an international romanticist idyll to the National Theatre with
famous works like La Sylphide - Napoli - Le Conservatoire
- TheKermesse in Bruges and A Folk Tale. After
some years with different Ballet Masters- legendary
Harald Lander was appointed Ballet Master in 1932.
He created a new repertoire of his own works and in 1948 - Etudes
was a major international success for the Royal Danish Ballet.
The Ballet Corps has performed on numerous National stages world
wide. |
