ROYAL DANISH BALLET - Royal Danish Theatre Copenhagen
Royal Ballet
The world famous Royal Danish Ballet
The most prominent name in Danish ballet is that of August Bournonville (1805-1879). He was appointed Ballet Master in 1830 and assigned to the Royal Danish Theatre right up to 1877, where he created the famous Bournonville ballet school. Bournonville introduced an international romanticist idyll to the National Theatre with famous works like La Sylphide - Napoli - Le Conservatoire - TheKermesse in Bruges and A Folk Tale. After some years with different Ballet Masters- legendary Harald Lander was appointed Ballet Master in 1932. He created a new repertoire of his own works and in 1948 - Etudes was a major international success for the Royal Danish Ballet. The Ballet Corps has performed on numerous National stages world wide.
