Jean Krall – best known as a Grammy Award winning Canadian
jazz pianist and singer - born November 16 – 1964.
Diana
Krall began learning the piano at the age of four and started
a jazz group in high school. At the age of seventeen she won a scholarship
from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival to
study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her
professional career started in 1993 – when
she released her first album – Stepping Out
– and since many successful albums have been launched. In
August 2000 she went on 20 city
tours with legendary Tony Bennett and
in 2001 Diana Krall began a world tour to strengthen
her international reputation. Her album – Live
in Paris – topped the Billboard jazz charts
and went top five in Canada and collected a second Grammy. Her latest
album - Quiet Nights – was released
in March 2009. Diana Krall holds the Order of Canada
(OC) as well as the Order of British Columbia (OBC) and is married
to English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello.
