The
Benkó Dixieland Band was formed by jazz
musician, clarinetist and bandleader Sándor Benkó
in 1957 in Hungary.
Sándor Benkó is the leader and founder
of the Benkó Dixieland Band and one of the most popular jazz
orchestra in Hungary – who has conducted numerous international
tours around the globe. This Hungarian Dixieland orchestra is one
of the best in the world and plays in the genuine traditional New
Orleans Jazz style covering all the numbers from the Birth
of Jazz to our Days trendy and common melodies with different soloist
and a swinging stage performance. The band has released more than
56 albums and the line-up is trumpeter Bela Zoltan,
trombonist and vocalist Ivan Nagy, pianist and
vocalist Vilmos Halmos, banjo-player Jeno
Nagy, bass-player Zsolt Kelemen, drummer
Gábor Kovacsevics and leader Sandor
Benkó.
