When Ellen Marsvin died – Kirsten Munk inherited Ellensborg – but was later exclude and dishonoured from the Danish court. When Kirsten Munk dies in 1658 - the castle is taken over by King Christian IVs favourite daughter – Princess Leonora Christine (1621–1698) – who later together with her husband the Councilor of State and Governor of Copenhagen - Corfitz Ulfeldt (1606-1664) were convicted and jailed for treason. The story of the two noble ladies ended very tragically and led to an awful destiny for both. The castle was then left empty and uninhabited for the following 10 years.
